Randy Jacobs, 67

Randy Cameron Jacobs joined his Lord Jesus on December 26th, 2024 after battling a lengthy illness.

Randy was born May 7th, 1957 to Robert C. Jacobs and Patsy (Gilliard) Jacobs at Paw Paw Hospital.

He attended Marcellus Schools and lived his early years there. He was always a hard worker and earned his money mowing lawns, newspaper delivery, and working on his grandparents’ farm.

In June of 1975 he met the love of his life Sharon Butz and they married in August of 1977.

He worked faithfully at Owens Illinois for 28 years until ill health forced him to retire. He was lead mechanic and a Union Steward.

He owned and ran Jacobs Lawn Equipment for many years. He was known for John Deere tractor restoration and repair. Customers came to him from as far away as California. If it had an engine, he could fix it.

Randy enjoyed the outdoors. Caring for their 5 acres in the woods and 2 large gardens kept them busy. The fall, winter, and spring, Randy fell, cut, hauled, and stacked wood which they used as the primary source of heat.

They spent summer vacations in Northern Michigan Sleeping Bear Dunes.

Both of them were interested in American history of the 1800s. A hobby turned into a small source of income as they were invited to appear as lectors at elementary, high schools and colleges as well. Civic clubs and parades were always on the schedule. They appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers as well as calendars and a book. A visit to Gettysburg, he was interviewed by CNN.

Being involved with their church was very important to both of them and they were willing and able to share the love of Christ no matter where they were.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon. His daughter, Kristen (Ryan) Jackson. 4 children born sleeping. 5 grandchildren, Austin Weber, Rebecca (Brandon), Lilly Schleben, Cameron Jacobs and Keegan Weber. His in-laws, J. Robert Butz and Doris. Two brothers, Mike (Judy) and Brad (Sue). One sister, (Rhonda) Ken. 1 niece and 2 nephews.

His parents, 1 brother, and grandparents preceded him in death.

Randy was loved and treasured by his family and known for his gentle spirit and tender heart.

May he rest in God’s peace until we’re together again.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
