Rob Trine, 71

Robbly Trine, age 71, of Burr Oak, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 15, 2025, at Majestic Care of Battle Creek.

He was born February 20, 1953, in Sturgis, son of the late James Phineas and Barbara Ann (Halferty) Trine.

Rob resided in Sturgis for many years and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1972. He had also lived in Houston and Conroe, Texas for 13 years and New Orleans.

He was a truck driver working for Luther Logistics in Coopersville, a job he truly loved. He was also a very talented roofer.

He was baptized at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sturgis.

Rob could be described as a free spirit just loving life. He always had a story and joke to share. In his younger years he traveled throughout the United States by means of hitchhiking.

Rob was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy earning the rank of AR.

He is survived by his friends Larry and Janice Schmucker of Sturgis.

In honoring Rob’s wishes cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, Jan. 22nd at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. Graveside service and committal of the remains will take place, Thursday, Jan. 23rd, 1:00 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. Full military honors will be conferred by Fort Custer Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.

Memorial donations would be appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
