Ruby Ellen Bressler, age 98, of Sturgis, passed away Monday morning, January 27, 2025, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born April 11, 1926, in Osceola, Indiana, daughter of the late Forrest H. and Ethel Marie (Snyder) Townsend.
Ruby resided in Sturgis since 1951 coming from Mishawaka.
On February 18, 1945 she married Donald I. Bressler in Mishawaka. He preceded her in death December 15, 1996.
Mrs. Bressler was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
She attended Osceola elementary school and graduated from Mishawka High School with the class of 1944
Ruby was a faithful long-time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis where for many years she served as the church secretary.
She is survived by her son: Robert Bressler of Sturgis; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Charles) Rose of Bronson, and Scott (Susan) Bressler of Sturgis; four great grandchildren: Alessia, Anabella, Zayven and Alycia; sister: Nina Harmon and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister: Joyce Baker.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 on Thursday, Jan. 30th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 406 S. Lakeview Ave. in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Ruby Ellen Bressler will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00. The Revs. Kaleb Yaeger and Calvin Kolzow will officiate. In honoring Mrs. Bressler’s wishes cremation will follow the service. Private interment of the remains will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.
