The U.S. Department of Justice this week announced the sentencing of a Sturgis man for selling fake and illegal drugs on the dark web.
According to WWMT, 47-year-old Erik Miller will spend more than five years in prison.
Authorities said Miller worked with a dark web vendor to distribute fraudulent Xanax pills, along with illegal drugs, such as meth and MDMA.
The transactions date to 2022, according to investigators.
In addition, Miller distributed real prescription drugs without requiring customers to provide a prescription, and regularly received packages containing thousands of Xanax pills and other drugs used to fulfill customer orders, officials said.
Miller’s involvement in the scheme led investigators to search his home and associated property last April, according to authorities.
Miller was found to be in possession of controlled and non-controlled substances, including MDMA, meth, cocaine, LSD and counterfeit Xanax.
