A Cass County man was convicted of weapons-related charges following a jury trial last week.
County prosecutor Victor Fitz said 34-year-old Robert Allen Scott Jr., of Dowagiac, was convicted of possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, carrying a concealed weapon, larceny of a firearm and two counts of felony firearm, Fitz said.
Scott chose to represent himself during the proceedings in Cass County Circuit Court.
Fitz said Scott repeatedly interrupted assistant prosecutor Nicolas Lebbin and at other times. At one point, Fitz said, Scott refused to open his eyes or answer questions posed by the court.
He was eventually returned to jail and jurors deliberated for half an hour.
Dowagiac Police officers arrested Scott May 4 on an outstanding warrant.
