Cindy L. Carpenter, age 71, of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday morning, January 28, 2025, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
She was born November 1, 1953, in Sturgis, daughter of the late Richard and Helen (Swalinski) Wallick.
Cindy resided most of her life in Sturgis.
On March 16, 1974, she married Lloyd Thomas “Tom” Carpenter in Howe, Indiana. He preceded her in death March 14, 2015.
Cindy had been employed by the Kirsch Company in Sturgis for over 20 years until the closing of the company. At that time, she enrolled at Glen Oak Community College where she earned a Certified Nurse Assistant degree and used those skills while working at Sturgis Foot and Ankle Clinic.
Cindy enjoyed attending concerts, dinners out with friends and family, and loved animals and time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons: Jamie Carpenter of Boardman, Ohio, Ryan Carpenter of Sturgis, Casey Carpenter of Bronson, Jason (Connie) Carpenter of Sturgis and Thomas Carpenter of Sturgis; her grandchildren: Sky Carpenter, Blake Carpenter, Gage Carpenter, Cade Carpenter, Kira Carpenter, Ethan Carpenter and Samuel Carpenter and brother: Richard “Rick” (Candy) Wallick, Jr. of LaGrange, Indiana.
In honoring Cindy’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Cindy Carpenter will be held at 2:00, Saturday, February 8th, at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis.
