Hubert McDonald, 93

Hubert Leo McDonald went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 3, 2025, at home surrounded by family.

Hubert was born April 16, 1931, in Three Rivers, the son of Joseph and Florence (Edgerton) McDonald. He was a 1948 graduate of Three Rivers High School and attended Michigan State University.

Hubert was employed as a tool and die maker for Production Tooling, Three Rivers Tool, Square D, and retired from HBDM.

He was a lifetime active member of Center Park United Methodist Church, and enjoyed farming, gardening, woodworking and building his own cabin. He also mentored through TRAM. Hubert was known for his roses that he took to church and nursing homes. His biggest passion in life was his family, which grew throughout the years.

In 1951 in Three Rivers, Hubert was united in marriage to Dorothy (Modert) McDonald who preceded him in death in 2002. Also preceding him in death are two children, Jim McDonald and Penney McDonald; grandson, Benjamin McDonald; two brothers, Robert and Paul McDonald; three sisters, Miriam Gregory, Marguerite Whitehead, Jean Shutes.

Surviving are two daughters, Jeannie Gayheart, Lucinda “Cindy” (favorite son-in-law – Charles) Barton; favorite daughter-in-law – Sharon McDonald; sister, Marie Mann; six grandchildren, Minde (Jerimiah) Abnet, Joshua (Jennifer) McDonald, Daniele Hinkley, Justin (Deidre) Gayheart, Jessica (Jon) Williams, Kristopher (Ashley) Barton; 16 great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Alyssa, Alaina, Addison, Garrett, Paige, Brayden, Conner, Mackenzie, Eliza, Lillian, Nolan, Adalyn, Eleanor, Caroline, Calvin; two great-great-grandchildren, Trace and Tate.

A very special thanks to Bob and Kim and all at Beacon Hospice. They made sure Hubert was at peace and treated with respect.

Friends and family will be received from 11am to Noon Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Center Park United Methodist Church where services will follow at Noon. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Hospice.
