Randall D. Rice, age 67, of Sturgis, passed away Thursday morning, February 27, 2025, at Edgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Three Rivers.
He was born July 27, 1957 in Sturgis, son of the late James Russell and Norma E. (Morrisson) Rice.
Randy was a lifelong Sturgis resident and graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1976.
He was first married to Lisa Kinsman September 27, 1980, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sturgis. This marriage ended in divorce. On April 21, 1990, he married Carol Miller at Sturgis Wesleyan Church.
Randy retired from Verizon following over 30 years of dedicated employment as a facility technician.
Randy was an active member of Radiant Life Church in Sturgis where he was always ready and willing to volunteer his time and talents in any way that was needed.
While in high school he was a member of the Key Club and later became a member of Sturgis Kiwanis Eastside Club. He enjoyed collecting diecast automobiles and had an appreciation for cars, especially muscle cars. Randy loved being outdoors, walking, gardening, or working in his yard.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife: Carol; children: Christopher (Laura) Rice of Three Rivers, Katelyn (Mack) Raynor of Bristol, Indiana and Anthony Rice of Sturgis; grandchildren: Madison and Owen Rice; sister: Raejean (Gary) Klopfenstein of Howe, Indiana; brother: Ronald D. Rice of Sturgis several nieces, nephews and cousins including a special cousin Randy considered as his other brother, John Hart of Kalamazoo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law: Helma.
In honoring Randy’s wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, March 3rd and Tuesday, March 4th at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. Memorial services celebrating the life of Randall D. Rice will be held at 2:00 Wednesday, March 5th, at Radiant Life Church, 907 N. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. The Rev. Ryan Bibb will officiate.
