Sharon Olds, 89

Sharon E. Olds, age 89, of LaGrange, and a former longtime Sturgis resident, passed away Thursday evening, January 30, 2025, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.

She was born on February 4, 1935, in Kendallville, Indiana, daughter of the late Chester and Dorothy (Cary) Coe.

Sharon resided in LaGrange since 2023, coming from Sturgis.

On June 15, 1958, she married Robert J. Olds in Kendallville. He preceded her in death December 27, 2007.

Sharon retired from Sturgis Molded Products following several years of dedicated employment. Prior to joining Sturgis Molded Products, she worked at Allied Textiles and Bronson Plastics.

She was a member of the former St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Sturgis where for many years served as the church pianist. She was currently attending the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene.

Sharon enjoyed crocheting, crafts, and sewing.

She is survived by her daughters: Pamela Jean (Robert) Rurka of Coldwater and Cindy Lou (John) Schmidt of LaGrange; grandchildren: Russell, Robert, Jr., Arlena and Matthew Rurka, Alex (Haley) Schmidt and Allison (Everette) Stratton; great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Rhailey, Chance, Carter, Claire, Garrett, Olivia, Rylee and Everette; sister-in-law: Diana Coe of Albion, IN and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Leslie Wayne Coe and Carey Coe and his wife Vanita.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Monday, Feb. 3rd at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Sharon Olds will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00. Pastor James Fearnow of Brighton Chapel Church will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Sweet Cemetery in Albion, IN.
