Steven Gilbert, 73

Steven Ray Gilbert, age 73, of Leonidas, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Steven was born on March 9, 1951 in Kalamazoo, a son to the late Ray and Joyce (Rider) Gilbert. He was a graduate of Sturgis High School as a member of the class of 1969. Steve worked many years as warehouse supervisor for Stafford Smith retiring in 2022.

On May 10, 1986, Steven married his wife of 38 years, Pamela L. Saxman in Three Rivers at the Three Rivers United Methodist Church.

Surviving Steven is his wife Pamela L. Gilbert of Leonidas, children: Tammy (Jason) Cain of Sturgis, Terra (Paul) Draper of Sturgis, Kelly Jo McGinnis of Peach Tree City, Georgia, and Ashley Parsons of Colon, grandchildren: Tyler Cain, McKenzie Cain, Rylee Cain, Kaylee Draper, Brooklyn Draper, Blain Parsons, Daisy Parsons, and Alaina McGinnis, siblings: Barbara (Wayne) Taylor of Jonesboro, Georgia, Eloise (Mona Posinoff) Gilbert of River View, Florida, and brother in law Terrill Dykstra of Sturgis.

Besides his parents Ray and Joyce Gilbert, Steven was preceded in death by his sister Joan Dykstra.

Following in Steven’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 AM  to 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. A memorial service celebrating Steven will begin at 12:00 following the visitation with Pastor Kut Bennett officiating. Private interment of ashes will take place at a later date in Leonidas Cemetery.
