Debra L. Shipe, age 65, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday evening, March 15, 2025, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
She was born January 4, 1960 in Sturgis, daughter of the late Fred N. “John” and Judy Ann (Lung) Jones.
Debra was a lifelong Sturgis resident. On September 25, 1976, she married Christopher “Dave” Shipe at Oak Lawn Park in Sturgis.
She had been employed by the Froh Home, Starlight Video and Eurotan, all in Sturgis, and was a dedicated employee of Midwest Tool & Cutlery, also in Sturgis, for 17 years.
Debbie was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina and Sturgis Missionary Church.
She was a member of Route 12 HOG Chapter. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, and cherished spending time with her family, and her dogs always held a special place in her heart.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years: Dave; son: Chris Shipe of Sturgis; daughter: Bobbie Jo Marchand of Bronson; grandchildren: Collin, Tyler, Alex, Cheyanne, Allex and Kasey; great granddaughter: Evei and several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Tony Edward Jones; sisters: Shelly Mae Jones and Dawn Renee Casner and nephews: Ryan Casner, Nicholas Jones and Brandon Casner.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00, Wednesday, March 19th at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Debra L. Shipe will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00. The Rev. Joshua Brueck of Sturgis Missionary Church will officiate. In honoring Debbie’s wishes cremation will follow the services.
