Genevieve Millard, 92

Genevieve Marie Millard, age 92, of Mendon, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Bronson Methodist Hospital after a brief illness.  She was born on January 23, 1933 in Newberg Township, the daughter of Orlando and Florence (Withers) Searer.  On November 26, 1954 she married Charles Millard in Angola.  Genevieve worked at the Newberry Dept. store in Three Rivers, Drake Casket Co. in Constantine, and was a staple at the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds where she assisted for over 20 years.  She loved to sing and dance and was a valued member of the Mendon Kiwanis Showboat and the Hula Cats in Florida.  Genevieve was a member of the Red Hat Society and was known to knit in her younger years.  She loved spending time with her husband, doing many odd jobs, and making many trips to Canada and traveling to Florida every winter for 20 years.  Genevieve was a people person and loved talking to everyone she met.

Genevieve is survived by her son, Gary (Mary) Millard; four grandchildren; LeAnn, Michelle, Casey, and Jacqueline; six great-grandchildren; and many extended families.  She was preceded in passing by her parents, Orlando and Florence Searer; siblings, Norman Searer, Lawrence Searer, and Bernice Cox; son Larry Millard; and her husband, Charles Millard.

In keeping with family wishes cremation is being conducted. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 9:30 until 11am at the Centreville United Methodist Church with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 with Pastor Drew Wiseman officiating. Following the service a luncheon will be held at the church; following the luncheon burial will take place at Mendon Cemetery at 2:00.
