Man arrested after fleeing police

A 33-year-old Centreville man was arrested after fleeing from police in Centreville Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff Chad Spence said deputies were called at 5 p.m. in response to a man on a dirt bike who fled from the scene of a traffic stop on East Main Street. Authorities said the man was pulled over for a number of moving violations.

The suspect then fled from authorities. A pursuit began and ended in the area of Jane Street and West Burr Oak Street. There, the man then attempted to run from deputies, heading westbound in the front yards of houses on Burr Oak Street.

Deputies caught the man, who was later found to be in possession of a pistol, several rounds of ammunition, and methamphetamine.

The suspect faces a number of felony charges, deputies said.
