Man arrested following chase through multiple counties

Michigan State Police troopers assisted with the apprehension of a LaGrange County man following a pursuit that made its way through St. Joseph County and ended in Branch County.

Troopers pursued the U-Haul truck Tuesday once it entered St. Joseph County from Indiana. Stop sticks were successfully deployed as the 48-year-old driver continued east into Branch County.

Its sheriff’s department deputies took over the pursuit and conducted a second successful stop-stick deployment, causing the vehicle to crash into a ditch.

Deputies negotiated with the suspect, who eventually exited the vehicle.

Authorities said the man faces charges of fleeing and eluding, multiple resisting-and-obstructing charges. He was also wanted on a felony warrant from LaGrange County.
