Nottawa fatal crash victim identified

Identity of the victim in a single-vehicle car crash last week in Nottawa Township has been confirmed.

CaleighAnne Schlabach died at the scene of the crash, which occurred on Nottawa Road, just south of M-86.

The 20-year-old Sturgis resident was driving a car that sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday for a speeding violation, investigators said.

Deputies attempted to catch up to the vehicle to initiate a traffic stop but lost sight of it.

While searching for the vehicle, deputies were dispatched to the area of Nottawa Road and Park Road in response to a report of a single-vehicle crash, where Schlabach died at the scene.

Schlabach was a Centreville High School graduate.

Authorities said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the incident.
