Robert A. Swanwick of Three Rivers, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the age of 79. Robert was born on March 30, 1946, in Grand Rapids. He was the son of William and Phyllis (Wright) Swanwick. Bob graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1964. While in high school he was on the track team. Notably, Bob held the pole vault record for the school for many years.
After high school he proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 until 1967. Once he returned, he became a truck driver. He drove from one coast to the other and saw every state on the mainland.
Bob had a great sense of humor and when asked what his name was, he would always say, “Bob with one o”. He was also known as “Damn-it Bob” to all of his friends. His hobbies included woodworking, golfing, and was a gunsmith. He was a proud American Patriot and a devote conservative.
Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol; two sons: David Brown of Virginia and Shawn Swanwick of Galesburg; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters: Kathryn Brundage, of Kalamazoo; Jessica Dakin, of Muskegon; and Jennifer Brott, of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: William and Phyllis Swanwick and one brother: Bill Swanwick.
Bob was cremated and will have his ashes buried with military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Disabled veterans of America DAV.org or the American Legion American Legion Donation.
