Thomas M. Armstrong, age 72, passed away at his home in Portage, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Saginaw on June 18, 1952, the son of the late Carl and Betty (Martin) Armstrong Sr. Thomas had a passion for learning which led to a career in education. He earned his master’s degree and taught at Colon Community Schools for several years and retired from Three Rivers Public Schools as a student counselor. During his time in the schools, he made a lasting impact on many children and his passion for helping was always felt. When not working, Tom enjoyed spending time at home working in his flower garden and landscape. He also enjoyed traveling and making memories with his wife and children. Tom loved the holidays and looked forward to the Christmas Season every year. Above all he loved his family and his friends. His smile, laughter, and kindness will be missed and remembered by all who loved him. On June 13, 1999, he married Melodee (Reames) Armstrong who survives. He is also survived by three children, Doug (Laura) Armstrong, Elizabeth “Beth” Evans, and Neil Armstrong; grandchildren, Emma Muffley, Lilli Evans, Hattie Noyes, Caroline Evans, DJ Armstrong and Carly Armstrong; two brothers, Gary (Karen) Armstrong and Carl (Joanna) Armstrong; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was also preceded in passing by two children, Todd Larkin and Heather Muffley; a brother, Brad Armstrong.
Cremation will take place, and services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to the Armstrong Family (checks payable to Melodee Armstrong) c/o the funeral home.
