Alice Aileen Watson, age 71, of Howe, Indiana, passed away Saturday morning, April 5, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born November 19, 1953 in Sandusky, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Allen and Olive (Brown) Adams.
After growing up in Croswell, MI Alice moved to Sturgis in 1975. She subsequently also lived in Marshall, MI, Athens, MI, and Napoleon, OH before returning to their lake home in Howe.
Alice attended Cros-Lex High School, graduating in 1971. She earned her bachelor’s degree in special education from Central Michigan University. She obtained further certifications in special education from Western Michigan University.
On December 27, 1975, she married David Watson in Croswell.
Alice retired in 2004 from Sturgis Public Schools after 28 years teaching in the high school and elementary schools.
She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis and the Howe Lions Club. Alice enjoyed traveling, gardening, and crafts, and was active in the Sturgis Holiday Kaleidoscope program, through the Sturges-Young Center for the Arts. She had a passion for renovating homes, decorating, and entertaining friends. Alice truly loved her time with grandchildren and boat rides with family and friends around the lake.
She is survived by her husband: David; daughter: Kayla (Alan) Hinds of South Lyon; son: Kyler (Carly) Watson of Battle Creek; grandchildren: Brylee, Brycen, Brynley and Alora; sisters: Andrea (John) Gentner of Richland and Ardis Ehardt of Boyne City and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law: Stephen Ehardt, and father and mother in law, Fred and Laura Watson.
In honoring Alice’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 on Sunday, April 13th at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Home, 114 S Nottawa, Sturgis. Another visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 on Monday, April 14th at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Pleasant Ave. in Sturgis. Memorial services celebrating the life of Alice A. Watson will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00. Alice will be taken back to her hometown of Croswell Wednesday, April 16th where the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. at the Croswell Free Methodist Church, 13 N. Howard Ave. in Croswell where memorial services will immediately follow the visitation at 11:30. The Rev. Sue Babb of the First United Methodist of Sturgis will officiate at both memorial services. A private burial will take place at Croswell Cemetery at a later date.
