Arrest made in assault case

One man was arrested and a second suspect is being sought by authorities related to a felonious assault involving firearms.

Sheriff Chad Spence said deputies were notified shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday of a 19-year-old victim who had been assaulted earlier in the day at a residence in the 63000 block of Shimmel Road.

As part of the investigation, surveillance led to a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling south on U.S. 131 in Constantine Township.

One suspect was taken into custody, while information was later obtained about a second suspect. A search warrant for the residence was executed but the second suspect was not found.

Authorities, however, confiscated eight firearms from the property.
