February’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County decreased by half of a percent from January.
Figures from the monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget show St. Joseph County’s unemployment rate fell from 6.3 percent in January to 5.8 percent in February. The county’s February rate from a year earlier was 4.5 percent.
Meanwhile, Cass County experienced an increase in its unemployment figures from January to February. Its January rate was 6.1 percent and rose to 6.3 percent a month later.
In addition, Branch County also experienced a small bump in its monthly rate. It was 5.2 percent in January and rose to 5.4 percent in February.
Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for February was 5.4 percent, up from 5.3 percent in January and an increase from 4 percent in February 2024.
