Dennis Warford, 81

With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we share that Dennis “Denny” Eugene Warford went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born on June 16, 1943, Denny was a man whose quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering faith left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Louise and Eugene Warford; his esteemed in-laws Edna & Edgar Stuewe; his sister, Sandra Warford Powers and her husband, Charles Powers; and his brother-in-law Duane Stuewe.

He leaves behind his cherished wife and lifelong companion, Sandra, whom he met while stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, during his service in the United States Army as a Military Police officer. Their love story spanned more than six decades and was the foundation of a beautiful family.

Denny was a caring father to Scott Warford (Jana), Darren Warford, Dan Warford (Mandee), Kevin Warford (Julie), and Mary Szettella (Steve). His greatest joy came from watching his family grow—he was a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren: Alexa, Ethan, Nicole (Skyler), Rachel (Logen), Jessica, Josh, Shelby, Chase, Trey, Alee, Bree, Andrew (Danielle), Aramis, Brayden (Basia), Jade and Lauryn and great-grandfather to Hudson, Emma, Bryce, and one more on the way.

After serving his country, Denny worked for over 30 years at the Ford Motor Company Transmission Plant in Livonia, Michigan. Though a hard worker, Denny never let his job define him—he was a man of faith, a faithful elder at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Colon, and someone who truly loved life’s simple pleasures: a crisp morning in the woods to hunt, casting a line into still water, or a round of golf with his wife.

Denny will be remembered most for his steady faith, his selflessness, and the kind way he supported and cared for those around him. His legacy is one of quiet devotion, humility, and grace.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with a service beginning at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Hospice of Lenawee, whose care and compassion meant so much in Denny’s final days.

The Warford family extends their deepest thanks to all who have offered prayers, love, and support during this time of loss. Denny’s life was a blessing, and he will be deeply missed.
