Farming workshop planned

A team of educators from across Michigan – including leaders within Michigan State University Extension – has developed new curricula and resources for teaching practical farming skills using hands-on activities and participatory learning principles.

The curricula are primarily designed for beginning fruit and vegetable farmers, but several of the modules would be applicable to any type of farm and are inclusive of both rural and urban farm settings.

There will be a “Train the Trainer” workshop May 8 at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. The free workshop is an opportunity for anyone who works with beginning farmers, including Extension staff, ag teachers, leaders of farmer-to-farmer learning groups, and more.

More details and registration information can be secured from MSU Extension’s Valorie Snyder, at 248-705-1029.

There will also be a Zoom version of the training offered June 10.
