March’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County decreased by three-tenths of a percent from February.
Figures from the monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget show St. Joseph County’s unemployment rate fell from 5.8 percent in February to 5.5 percent in March. The county’s March rate from a year earlier was 4.5 percent.
Meanwhile, Cass County experienced a decrease in its unemployment figures from February to March. Its February rate was 6.2 percent and fell to 5.7 percent a month later.
In addition, Branch County also experienced a small drop in its monthly rate. It was 5.4 percent in February and lowered to 5 percent in March.
Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March was 5.5 percent, an increase from 5.4 percent in February.
