Natalie Labencki Canfield, 77, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away on April 8, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mildred Labencki. Born in Michigan, Natalie earned a Bachelor’s degree in music from Eastern Michigan, and later taught music at the Michigan School for the Blind.
Natalie worked as an auto mechanic and then went on to work in the parts department at a motorcycle shop, where she met her husband. She worked with adolescents at Eastern State after moving to Williamsburg. Natalie enjoyed being a Culinary Apprentice at the Trellis here in Williamsburg. She later worked as a baker for Colonial Williamsburg before moving to the Colonial Williamsburg costume shop before then retiring.
A true renaissance woman, Natalie enjoyed traveling, spinning wool, Bobbin lace, crocheting, knitting, weaving, and beading. She knew the name of every bird that flew the sky. Belonging to a lot of guilds, she was always eager to share her knowledge with others.
Natalie is survived by her husband, John Stephen Canfield, her brother, Thomas Labencki, and her black cat, Friday.
A Visitation will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, Virginia.
