A Bronson man faces several charges following a police pursuit that started in Branch County and ended in Indiana.
Steuben County Sheriff’s Department authorities said its deputies were made aware around 4:30 p.m. Saturday of a pursuit in Branch County heading south onto State Road 327.
The suspect vehicle, reportedly stolen from St. Joseph County, crashed just south of U.S. 20. The suspect, James Williams, 51, allegedly battered a Branch County deputy before he was taken into custody, Steuben County deputies said.
In addition, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located on Williams during a search.
The investigation further indicated Williams may be connected to crimes in LaGrange County and St. Joseph County.
Charges include felony theft of a motor vehicle; resisting law enforcement using a vehicle; battery to a public safety official; and criminal recklessness. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement; reckless driving; possession of marijuana; and possession of paraphernalia.
