Sandra S. Karlovsky, age 85, of Sturgis, passed away Monday morning, April 28, 2025, at her home.
She was born on September 13, 1939, in Jasper, Alabama, daughter of the late Rubert and Lois Velma (Watkins) Ingram.
Sandra resided in Sturgis for the past two months, coming from Florida where she lived several years, and also lived in Illinois.
Sandra retired from General Motors following 20 years of dedicated employment. Following her retirement, she took pride in becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant working 20 years at a Jewish retirement community in Florida and she also owned and operated Cali Soap Suds Laundromat in Florida for several years.
She had a love of shopping and traveling with family to casinos, especially Las Vegas and New Orleans. She was truly happy when she was surrounded by her family.
Sandra is survived by her significant other: Windell Long of Sturgis; her children: Johnny Thacker of Middleburg, Florida, Sandra Johnson of Middleburg, Florida, Harold (Melissa) Stellner of Clay Center, Kansas and Frank (Julie) Stellner of Sturgis; grandchildren: Mike Grams, Jamie Karubas, Matt Karubas, Thomas Holdsworth, Andrew Stellner, Eric Stellner, Brock Stellner, Brigette Stellner Soto and Julian Alldridge; great grandchildren: Jackson Stellner, Jade Stellner, Brennan Stellner Soto, Isabel Karubas and Olivia Karubas; Windell’s son: Jason (Jessie) Long of Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Sherry Karubas and brother: James Ingram.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 on Thursday, May 1st at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Sandra S. Karlovsky will be held at 1:00 Friday, May 2nd. The Rev. Randy Evans of New Beginnings Church of Sturgis will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
