Branch County man arrested after fleeing Sheriff’s deputies

A Branch County man – also a wanted felon – was arrested after he eluded authorities numerous times last week.

Branch County Sheriff’s Department said deputies were called to a residence May 14 in response to a domestic disturbance related to the suspect and his girlfriend. The suspect, Juston Malone, left the scene in a vehicle and was not taken into custody.

Deputies returned the next day and Malone fled the residence on foot and then swam across Matteson Lake

Later that evening, deputies were unable to catch Malone after he walked more than a mile in and around the lake.

Finally, on Sunday, deputies made a traffic stop in Bronson on a vehicle registered to Malone. He exited the vehicle from the passenger side and ran from the scene. He was eventually captured inside a residential garage.

Malone had multiple outstanding felony warrants, including felony assault with a dangerous weapon and multiple failure to appear. Additional charges related to resisting and obstructing will be forwarded to the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office.
