Branch County man injured in crash

A Branch County man was injured in a two-vehicle crash last week in Bronson Township.

Branch County Sheriff’s Department said deputies were notified shortly after 7:30 a.m. April 30 of a crash involving a sport-utility vehicle and a semi on U.S. 12, near the intersection of Holmes Road.

Deputies said it appears 51-year-old Bronson resident Greg Hardy was driving west on U.S. 12 when his vehicle veered left of center and into the eastbound lane. His vehicle was struck by a semi driven by a 55-year-old man from Berrien County.

The semi driver, Jeffery Skala, told authorities he attempted to avoid the collision but was not successful.

Hardy was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo; Skala was not injured, deputies said.
