Carol E. Snow-Penn, age 81, of Centreville, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. She was born November 24, 1943 in Warsaw, IN a daughter of Donald and Alice (Veon) Fross. Carol, known affectionately as “Frosty”, graduated from Centreville High School in 1961.
Carol worked as a Loan Processing Manager at Farm Credit Services in Michigan for more than 20 years. Following her retirement in 2001 she moved to Las Vegas. While there she worked as Executive Assistant to the owner and president of Focus Property Group from 2002-2008. In Michigan, Carol has also held positions as Assistant Director and implementing of the first St. Joseph County Commission on Aging; Office Manager and assisted with the opening of the first Manpower Office in St. Joseph County; Park Township Clerk, Board Member and implementation of the new Three Rivers Hospital Board of Directors; Centreville Fair Office secretary and harness racing clerk, full time for 7 years, then worked fair week for 33 years; Chairman of the St. Joseph County Republican Committee and Vice Chairman of District Committee. Following retirement Carol became very active in Centreville serving as the DDA Director, member/coordinator of Centreville Covered Bridge Days, assisted with the Centreville food pantry, was very active with the Centreville Class of 1961 Alumni, the Centreville High School Alumni Association, and also a former Centreville Citizen of the Year.
Carol was a life long Detroit Tigers fan, sang in the church choir, played the piano, and enjoyed reading and traveling. She especially cherished her pets Casey and Hershey, and was devoted to the care of her immediate and extended family.
Surviving are her son Monte (Valerie McClain) Snow, grandchildren Mallory (Neal Gekeler) Snow, Alexis (Josh Miller) Snow, Zachary Sheteron, Tyler Sheteron, niece Debbie (Rich) Applegate, nephew Dan (Emma) Glazener and nephew DeWayne (Tish) Cuningham, great nephew Daryl Cunningham, Mike Jacobs and Joe Jacobs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ronnie Penn and James Snow, sister Cheryl Glazener; aunt Janie Cunningham; and life long friends Barb Luck, Barb Hamilton, and Bill Jacobs.
Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday, May 13, from 12 to 2 pm, at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville. Private graveside services will be held at Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville. Chaplain Russ Stauffer will officiate. Memorial contributions may be directed to Centreville Methodist Church music program.
