Colon schools asks for public input on superintendent search

Colon Community Schools invites the public to lend a voice in its search for a new superintendent.

With the resignation of Rachel Kowalski, who has taken the job of chief administrator of Saline Area Schools in Washtenaw County, Colon Community Schools has set up a survey to gather feedback on the qualities, experience and priorities the community seeks in its next school chief.

Board of education members said they are committed to a transparent and inclusive process, and will provide community updates on the search as circumstances warrant.

A special board meeting is set for 6 o’clock Wednesday. Board members hope to field public input at that time, too.

Colon is the second district in St. Joseph County on the hunt for a new superintendent, as Burr Oak’s Kristina Owens plans to step down at the end of the school year.
