The top employee at St. Joseph County Transportation Authority is retiring.
Allen Balog announced that after nearly five years as executive director of the Three Rivers-based agency, he will step down at the end of the business day Friday.
Balog, former mayor of Three Rivers and longtime former member of the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners, said he made the CTA board aware earlier this year of his intentions to retire.
A Niles native, Balog said operations manager Marci Goodman will succeed him. Goodman has worked for the Three Rivers-based agency since April 2021 and has eight years of experience in public transportation, Balog said.
He said nine people applied for the post.
