Gloria J. Gest, age 90, of White Pigeon, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday afternoon, May 15, 2025, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born on June 19, 1934, in Grand Rapids, daughter of the late Lester and Pearl (Rogers) Weiderman.
On April 16, 1955, she married Lynn C. Gest. They were married 69 years when Lynn preceded her in death September 14, 2024.
She retired from Arc Opportunities and in her earlier years, and worked for Odell Enterprises and Kirsch Company.
Gloria was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis where she was a member of the Ladies Aid, Bible study group, and a former Bible School teacher.
Gloria and Lynn enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada in their travel trailer. She enjoyed playing Bridge as a member of the White Pigeon Bridge Club, and enjoyed other games, visiting with family and friends, especially making the holidays special for her family.
She is survived her daughter: Julie MacPherson of Sturgis; son: Dan (Susan) Gest of White Pigeon; Daughter-in-law: Linda Gest of Bristol, Indiana; four grandchildren: Kristopher Gest of Goshen, Indiana, Triena (Sena) Gest of Germany, Andrew (Haley) Gest of Bear Lake and Jennifer (Travis) Arnett of Battle Creek; great-grandchildren: Anlyssa (Danny) Strange, Austin (Ally) Gest, Brock Gest, Lucas Gest, Elizabeth Gest, Hannah Gest and Josie Arnett; four great great grandchildren; brother-in-law: Harold Arnesdorf of Tryon, Nebraska and loving nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son: Michael Gest; son-in-law: John MacPherson; sister: Marilyn Jacobs and brothers: Donald Weiderman and Norman Weiderman.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, May 22nd at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Gloria J. Gest will be held Friday, May 23rd, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Lawrence Matro will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
