Judith Kay Lewis, age 85, of Vicksburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in Portage. Judy was born to Alva and Helen (Hall) Switzer in Kalamazoo on May 6, 1940. She graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1958, and was married to Eli M. Lewis on August 30, 1958.
Judy had several jobs over the years, with her favorite being as a parapro at Vicksburg Community Schools for many years before her retirement. Judy and Eli discovered a wonderful life in Jesus Christ and were very involved in the churches they attended. Caring for her family was Judy’s joy. She was a wonderful cook, and she baked the most amazing pies, often sharing them with others. She felt blessed when she could help people.
Judy is survived by her children: Polly (and Jeff) Preston, Tim (and Gail) Lewis and Dan (and Patti) Lewis, all of Vicksburg; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; her sister Patty (and Milan) Bittenbender of South Haven; and many nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband Eli, their daughter Shellie Lewis Bladen, grandson-in-law Ethan Leasure, her siblings Alva Switzer, Norma Suess, and Fran Rigney, and her parents.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00; followed by the funeral service at 11:00, officiated by Rev. Ed Courtney, all at ChapNaz, 7520 East U Ave., Vicksburg. Later, the family will meet at Boughton Cemetery in Scotts for burial.
