K-9 assists in suspect apprehension

A K-9 officer played a key role in apprehension of a suspect in a home-invasion incident last weekend in Cass County.

Sheriff Clint Roach said deputies were notified shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday about a request for assistance from Cassopolis Police Department.

Upon arrival, deputies were advised a suspect had fled from the residence. As a result, K-9 Sitka was brought to the scene in an attempt to locate the suspect.

Sitka managed to locate a scent and led his handler to an area a short distance behind the residence. The suspect complied with verbal demands to surrender and was subsequently arrested, Roach said.
