New elementary cafeteria put into use

A new chapter in the annals of Centreville Public Schools occurred this week when its new elementary cafeteria made its debut.

Less than a year after a ceremonial groundbreaking took place at the north end of the building, the new addition was put into use Wednesday. An adjacent music room, also new to Centreville Elementary, was also included in the 5,200-square-foot addition.

Before Wednesday, elementary students ate lunch in the school’s gymnasium.

Music classes, meanwhile, have been held behind heavy curtains on the gymnasium stage, a less-than-ideal situation, district officials have acknowledged.
