Vicksburg residents are going to see improved streets starting this summer.
In advance of the village’s 2025-26 fiscal year – which starts July 1 – council members have started to review and approve expenditures within the upcoming budget. The budget itself is expected to be passed June 30.
During their May 19 meeting, council members were provided details about impending street improvements.
Local streets on deck for improvements in the 2025-26 fiscal year are: Michigan Avenue, from Highway Street to Washington Street; Second Street, an unimproved stretch will be paved; Kenyon Street, Second Street to Third Street; Kalamazoo Avenue, Raymond Street to Vine Street; South Main Street, Highway Street to East Washington Street; Wilson Street, Highway Street to Prairie Street.
Maple Meadows neighborhood, Kathryn, Sugar Maple and Vicker streets, and Maple Meadows Avenue; Prairie Street, Boulevard Avenue to Mill Street; State Street, North Davis Street to Wilson Street.
Work will range from crack fill, chip seal and fog seal, to milling and replacing with new asphalt. Furthermore, funding sources will vary from Local Street Fund to Major Street Fund.
In all, the 2025 road projects total an expense of about $215,000, village manager Jim Mallery said.
