Donald Ralph DeVerna, age 71, of Klinger Lake Road, Sturgis, passed away unexpectedly in his home May 31, 2025. He was born November 27, 1953 to Dallas and Hazel (Keck) DeVerna.
Don worked for Lazy Boy and GM, where he worked for 43 years before retiring in 2019. He married Barbara Lee Stevenson on June 30, 1973 in Temperance, Michigan. They enjoyed almost 52 years of a loving marriage. They were blessed with two boys, Daniel (Karen) DeVerna and Michael (Stacey) DeVerna.
Don is survived by his wife, two sons, 12 grandchildren, sister Linda (Jason) Blount and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents as well as his brother, David DeVerna.
A member of Mottville Bible church, Don’s quiet faith in God showed itself in every day actions and a giving, encouraging spirit to those around him. Don was a loving and devoted husband and father who laughed at his grandchildren’s antics and loved taking them on tractor rides. He was not afraid to address injustice or wrong and was discerning in how and when he did so. He was a man of few words, but his words always counted.
Visiting hours will take place at Mottville Bible Church, Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral also at Mottville Bible Church at 11:00 a.m. Following will be the burial at White Pigeon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mottville Bible Church.
