Loa Chapman, 98

Loa Jean Chapman, age 98, of Centreville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 4, 2025, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.

She was born on November 15, 1926 in Sturgis, daughter of the late Russell and Myrl (Stackman) Collins.

Mrs. Chapman resided in the Sturgis and Centreville areas her whole life.

On September 29, 1946, she married Morris Glenn Chapman at the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene in Sturgis. He preceded her in death December 30, 2012.

Loa retired from Denton Mills in Centreville following 20 years of dedicated employment.

She was a longtime member of Sturgis Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark movies, and playing dominos and UNO.

Mrs. Chapman is survived by her sons: Danny Chapman of Ohio and Donald (Pamela) Chapman of Centreville; grandchildren: Matthew (Beth), Melissa (Keith), Catrina Lynn, Crystal, Curtis, Brian (Angie), Elizabeth (Jay) and Kristopher and several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sons: Douglas Chapman and Dennis Chapman; grandson: Michael Chapman, one great granddaughter and brothers: Robert Collins and Wendell Collins.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00, Wednesday, June 11th at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Loa Jean Chapman will be held at 11:00 Thursday, June 12th at the funeral home. Pastor Alex Brovont of Crossroads Missionary Church in Mendon will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
