Louis Earl Tefft, age 81, of Leonidas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo.
Louis was born on July 24, 1943 in Centreville, the son of the late Guy Gould and Maxine Marie (Hammond) Tefft. He graduated from Colon High School with the Class of 1962.
Louis worked for 33 years at Kellogg in Battle Creek until his retirement. He later continued working for Crop Production Services in Mendon for several years, where he drove truck.
Louis was previously married to Beverly E. Tefft. On January 30, 2005, he married Doris M. Fredenburg at Light & Life Wesleyan Church in Three Rivers.
A devoted member of the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene, Louis was also a former member of the Colon Lions Club. Known for his warm personality and love of conversation, Louis was truly a people person. He loved spending time camping with his family and had a passion for collecting and traveling for Fordson Tractors.
He is survived by his loving wife, Doris M. Tefft of Leonidas; sons Ray (Pamela) Tefft of Jonesville and Rodney (Melissa) Tefft of Nottawa; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Connie (Mitchell) Addis of Colon.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; sons Keith and Clay Tefft; grandson Dillon Tefft; and brother Lester Tefft.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene. A funeral service celebrating Louis’ life will follow at 1:00, with Pastor Bill Couchenour and Pastor John Shoup officiating. Honoring Louis’ wishes, cremation will take place following the service. A private interment of ashes will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene or Kairos Dwelling. Envelopes will be available at the church.
