Sandra E. Alber, age 85, of Sherwood, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Three Rivers.
Sandra was born on August 23, 1939 in Colon, a daughter of the late Edwin and Francis “Marian” (Decker) Loudenslager. She graduated as valedictorian of the Colon High School Class of 1957. Sandra attended Western Michigan University for one year, followed by a term at Wright Beauty School, where she earned her cosmetology license. A lifelong resident of Colon and Sherwood, Sandra worked for many years at Lear Siegler in Mendon and retired in 2003.
Sandra married Tom Johnson, who preceded her in death in 1977. She later married Bruce Mohney, who passed away in 1986. On March 24, 1999, she married Richard F. Alber in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sandra enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and golfing when she was able. She was an avid reader—once reading 470 books in a single calendar year. She also enjoyed time at the cabin, visiting the casino, and solving crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Richard F. Alber of Sherwood; her children, Brett (Jean) Johnson of Mendon and Shawna Mohney of Colon; her grandchildren, Tyler Rodgers, Mikenzie Brown, Shaylee Brown, and Alayna Brown; five great-grandchildren; her brothers, Gerald (Patricia) Loudenslager, David (Pamela) Loudenslager, and Dennis Loudenslager; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her husbands, Tom Johnson and Bruce Mohney; her children, Cindy Thomet and Natalie Saunders; and her grandchildren, Brandon and Lyndsay.
The Alber family will receive friends and relatives from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. A funeral service celebrating Sandra’s life will follow the visitation at 6:00 PM, with Diane Downs officiating. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Huntington Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. A private interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
Dick so sorry to just hear of Sandy`s passing. She sure was a great lady.
