A state champion from St. Joseph County was crowned over the weekend.
The Sturgis High School girls track team captured the Division 2 state title Saturday at Hamilton High School.
As a team, Sturgis accumulated 54.2 points, putting it ahead of all other opponents. Goodrich High School was runner-up, with 39 points and Saginaw Swan Valley ended up third with 38 points.
