Beacon completes acquisition of Borgess facilities

Beacon Health System has completed its acquisition of Ascension Southwest Michigan.

The move expands the reach of Beacon’s locally owned and governed nonprofit health system, and strengthens its ability to serve communities across Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan, Beacon officials said.

Beacon now operates four additional hospitals, 35 outpatient clinics and an ambulatory surgery center in Southwest Michigan. The four hospitals are: Beacon Kalamazoo (formerly Borgess), Beacon Allegan (formerly Borgess Allegan), Beacon Dowagiac (formerly Borgess-Lee) and Beacon Plainwell (formerly Borgess-Pipp).

Beacon announced the definitive agreement to acquire the facilities in April.

In addition, Beacon has also become a partner with Western Michigan University Homer Stryker School of Medicine.
