Edgar Eduardo Hernandez Alcantar, 20

Edgar Eduardo Hernandez Alcantar, age 20, of Sturgis, passed away tragically on Sunday morning, June 29, 2025, in Burr Oak Township, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born on September 14, 2004, in Acámbaro, Michoacán, Mexico, the beloved son of Cecelio Hernandez and Maria Elena Alcantar. Edgar moved to Sturgis at the age of two, where he grew up surrounded by a close-knit and loving family.

A hardworking young man, Edgar worked alongside his father in the construction field. He was a devoted member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis, where his faith was an important part of his life.

Edgar had a deep appreciation for all things mechanical—he especially loved working on cars and minibikes. His passion for engines was only matched by his zest for life. He was known for living each day to the fullest, never taking a single moment for granted. Edgar’s energy, laughter, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was an incredible son, a protective brother, and a proud uncle.

He is survived by his loving parents, Cecelio and Maria; his brothers, Angel Hernandez Alcantar and Alexander Hernandez Alcantar; his sister, Maria Hernandez Alcantar; and his cherished nephew, Javier Hernandez.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Monday, July 7th, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 402 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. A Funeral Mass celebrating Edgar’s life will begin at 1:00 with Father Andrew Raczkowski officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
