Michigan’s unemployment rate down

Michigan’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate went down over the one-month period from May to June.

According to information from Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, the state’s jobless rate lowered from 5.4 percent in May to 5.3 percent in June.

Employment ebbed by 4,000 over the month and the number of unemployed people fell by 6,000, according to agency officials.

The largest decreases over the month were in Professional and business services, manufacturing and retail trade.

Agency officials said the state’s unemployment rate declined for the second consecutive month in June, an indication of labor-market stabilization during the second quarter.
