Robert A. Teadt, Sr., age 87, of Sturgis, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday morning, June 30, 2025.
Born August 16, 1937 in Sturgis, he was the son of the late Alfred and Ruth (Walters) Teadt. A lifelong resident of the Sturgis area, Bob graduated from Centreville High School with the Class of 1955.
In 1955, he began a long career at the Kirsch Company in Sturgis, retiring in 1993. Even while working full time, Bob pursued his true calling—farming. After retiring from Kirsch, he continued to stay active, working at Car Quest in Sturgis.
On February 14, 1989, Bob married Kay (Ward) Yeaman in Kalamazoo. Together they shared 36 loving years. He was previously married to Amanda Kroll, the mother of his children.
Bob was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis. He had a lifelong appreciation for classic and antique cars and loved the outdoors—especially cutting wood, which he seemed never to tire of. His happiest moments were spent at the family farm, surrounded by the people he loved.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kay; children: Robert (Dee) Teadt, Jr. of Sturgis, Sandy (Ray) Baker of Howe, Indiana, and Debbie (Dave) Brinklow of Grand Haven; stepchildren: Hope (Jon) Grubka of Mendon, Beth (Jason) Ruckert of Thousand Oaks, California, and Neill (Cindy) Yeaman of Plainwell; 24 grandchildren and their spouses; 13 great-grandchildren and their spouses; brother, Don Teadt of Three Rivers; sister, LaDonna Sand of Centreville; and many beloved sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons: Douglas, Richard, and Jerry Teadt; sister: Mary Kirby; sisters-in-law: Naomi Teadt and Shirley Teadt; brothers-in-law: Bill, Drake, Richard, and Harry Ward, and Leon Cullimore; step-grandson, Kyle Grinage; niece, Donna Kirby; and great-nephew, Josh Batten.
