Roger Hallett Bryan, age 77, of Colon, passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2025 at his apartment.
He was born on October 3, 1947 in Coldwater, the son of the late Riley and Arlene (Fenner) Bryan. Roger grew up on the family farm near Colon, alongside his four siblings.
A 1965 graduate of Colon High School, Roger was proud to have served as Valedictorian of his class. He went on to study education at Western Michigan University and completed his student teaching in White Pigeon. Throughout his life, he worked in a variety of roles, including delivering propane and milk, and at a trailer factory.
What some people might have labeled eccentric, others recognized Roger’s curious mind and playful spirit. It would not be unusual for him to stay up to the wee hours of the morning engaging in a book, watching a movie, or solving a chess problem. He enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews, often playing cards and board games, and entertaining them with his humor.
He is survived by his sisters, Ginger Carr of Reston, Virginia, and Rebecca Myers of Norfolk, Virginia; sister-in-law, Marlene Bryan of Colon; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Robert Bryan, both of Colon.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service at Lakeside Cemetery will be announced in the coming days.
