TRAM students participate in fishing event

A record number of participants were recently involved in an annual fishing event to benefit area youth.

The 17th Larry Headley “Reeling in the Future” tournament took place July 12 at Sand Lake in Nottawa.

Sponsored by Three Rivers Area Mentoring, “Reeling in the Future” pairs TRAM students with volunteers who offer their watercraft and fishing expertise with TRAM students. Event organizers said the 2025 event drew an unprecedented 31 students and nine motor boats.

Tackle boxes were issued through donations collected by TRAM.

Participants in the free event ranged in age from 7 to 14 years.
