Bartel E Jonker Jr, age 86, of Sturgis, died on Monday, August 11, 2025 following a short illness. He was born on March 22, 1939 in Sturgis, the Son of Bartel E and Violet M (Schouten) Jonker Sr.
Bartell lived in the Sturgis and White Pigeon area all of his life, and was a graduate of White Pigeon High School class of 1957. He was a sergeant in The National Guard, and was the manager of Logistics for Abbot Laboratories in Sturgis for 38 years, and retired in 1995. He was a member of The Scott United Methodist Church.
Bartell married Mary Jane Weeder on August 23, 1959 at The Scott United Methodist Church. She survives, along with his Sons Bartel (Sharon) Jonker III, Robert (Ava) Jonker, Jeff Jonker. Grandchildren Ryan (Emily), April (Ben), Maggie (Grant) Justin, Gabrielle, Brandon (Britta), Brother Bruce (Sandra) Jonker. Preceded in death by his Parents.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at The Scott United Methodist Church, 7020 N 675 W, Shipshewana, Indiana 46565. Services will begin at 1:00 with The Pastor Josh Watts officiating, Interment in Sidner Cemetery, Howe, Indiana. Donations may be directed to The Scott United Methodist Church.
