Constantine reviews site plan for proposed fire station

Constantine municipal officials recently reviewed an initial site plan for a new village fire station.

Project manager Mike DeVries presented the plan during the council’s July 21 meeting.

He said costs associated with the $3.5 million project include more than $1 million for the pole-barn structure; another $1 million for garage doors, offices and sprinklers; and about $500,000 for demolition of the current facility, and for site-preparation and improvement.

Meanwhile, administrative fees for engineering and architectural firm Fleis & VandenBrink total about $370,000.

The balance of the funds – which includes a $1.5 million federal grant – will be set aside for security, equipment and other necessities.

Village officials will await final engineering drawings before plans move forward.

  1. I don’t know who wrote this article, but I refer you to the Facebook recording of that meeting. The White Pigeon and surrounding area meetings Facebook group. What happened to the village recording their meetings?

Mr. DeVries did NOT “present the plan” during the meeting. There were NO “presentations” at that meeting. Referring to a memo is not a presentation.
They’re not “awaiting final engineering drawings before moving forward” since they adopted some sort of motion based on 2002 DBW agreement with Fleis and VandenBrink which means a fiduciary contract? An apparent surprise to the council members. Passed without a dollar amount attached?
