A St. Joseph County Transportation Authority driver was killed last week in a two-vehicle crash east of Mendon.
St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Zachary Zuk said emergency crews were called shortly before 2 p.m. Friday to the intersection of M-60 and M-66, just north of the St. Joseph River in Mendon Township.
Investigators said a CTA van driven by 36-year-old Beatrice Jones-Taylor was heading north on M-66 when it failed to stop at the three-way intersection with M-60. Authorities said the van Jones-Taylor was driving was struck by an eastbound semi tractor-trailer. Jones-Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a sheriff’s department media release, Jones-Taylor was the only person in the vehicle. Authorities also noted it does not appear that alcohol or speed were factors in the incident.
